2016 Conservation Futures Report

The 2016 Conservation Future’s report is now available.

Conservation Futures is a land preservation program that protects, preserves, maintains, improves, restores, and limits the future use of threatened areas of open space, timberlands, wetlands, habitat areas, culturally significant sites, and agricultural farmlands.  Conservation Futures funds, acquired through a property levy, are used to purchase the land or the rights to future development of the land.

2014 Farmland Preservation in Washington Workshop presentations available!

The Washington State Conservation Commission Office of Farmland Preservation held a workshop on Thursday, December 11th at the Edmonds Conference Center aimed at bringing planners, farmland preservationists, and farmland mangement professionals together for a day of learning and conversation. Topics included Comprehensive Planning and Agriculture, Voluntary Stewardship Programs (VSP) and similar programs, and tools for protecting agricultural lands. Participants had the opportunity to engage speakers and attendants in an open discussion period following each presentation. Presentation materials were based on Washington State legal planning requirements and current approaches to farmland preservation and improving farmland use. Read more
